When an applicant is faced with the question of choosing an educational institution that can meet the educational needs of a future student, there is often a doubt as to which university is better — an institution or a university. And is there a fundamental difference?
An institute is a specialized educational institution where, like at a university, one can receive training in higher education programs. Most often, institutions are narrow-profile, i.e. carry out professional training of specialists for a particular industry — economics, law, psychology, medicine, construction, culture, management, as well as in the specialties of related industries. This is the main and main difference between this type of university.
In turn, a university is an earlier version of an educational institution: historically, universities have a longer life span as organizations that provide fundamental education. The first “universal” educational institutions appeared in the 9th century and were accessible only to a select few, but today their number has grown many times, allowing them to provide professional training for all applicants applying for a university education.
There are two fundamentally different opinions as to whether the status of an educational institution in which a specialist is trained affects the employment prospects. Some are convinced that there is no difference between an institute diploma and a university diploma because the future employer is primarily interested in having work experience with a potential employee. However, this persuasion is more often followed by applicants and graduates who do not aim to achieve particular career heights. Indeed, the institute, in the same way as the university, provides basic vocational training, education, and guarantees that in another educational institution guarantees a diploma. At the same time, in a number of narrow areas of activity, education obtained in a specific institute specializing in the professional training of employees for this sphere may be valued. These can be cultural institutions, medical institutes, transport institutes, technical institutes.
At the same time, the university has great potential for quality education, among which, as mentioned above, there is a more modern material and technical base, a stronger teaching staff, and opportunities for raising the educational level. That is why future students who are aiming at a serious career growth, planning to achieve special achievements in the career field, should strive to enroll precisely in an educational institution that has university status. This is a question not only of prestige and reputation but also the prospects for deeper training and the possibility of obtaining more versatile and practically applicable knowledge from experts taught by the sciences.
